SOMERSET COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, MELLS) (IN THE PARISH OF MELLS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICLES)
ORDER 2024 (MELLS FETE 2024 AND 2025) – 6 May 2024
Notice is hereby given that Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as inserted by Section 1 of the Road Traffic Regulation (Special Events) Act 1994, as amended, intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to introduce the following temporary prohibition of vehicles as detailed in the Schedule below. PLAN – Mells Fete
The Order will be made to facilitate the Mells Fete during 2024 and 2025 and is in the interest of public safety.
The Order shall come into operation on the dates specified in the Schedule below. The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs and will remain in force only for as long as is necessary.
Exemptions are provided in the Order for emergency services and any vehicles associated with the management of the event.

The order becomes effective on 02nd May 2024 and will remain in force for eighteen months.The works are expected to commence on 8th May 2024 and last for 9 hours (08:30 and 17:30) to enable National Grid to carry out overhead reconductoring works. Urgent / emergency Road Closure: – MD26/0524 – SD007857- Southfield Hse Lane
Please be aware that we have received a notification of a TTRN (urgent / emergency) road closure at Southfield House Lane To Old Wells Road, Whatley which will commence on 7th May 2024 – 11th May 2024 (07:00 – 19:00) for a total of 5 days.
This will enable preparation surface dressing works.
The contractor has indicated that access for Emergency Services through the site is permitted on this occasion.
